Hs boys group in Aug

In Aug, during the dead period, I will be running 2 hour Hs boys groups that will be concepts, playing, shooting and skills groups. Varsity level kids are encouraged to attend, this is not a beginner group and I will move kids who book that aren’t at that level. I’m really excited to offer this again. They will be hard, they will be competitive and when hs ball starts up our kids will dominate.

Feature Story

Shooting is the separator

I get asked a lot “what skill should my son/daughter focus on the most this off-season?” I believe ball handling is the easiest to practice on your own, shooting is the separator. A kid’s ability to shoot can help them get easy layups off of simple counters like a shot fake or parallel 3. I have worked with a ton of really really good shooters. My favorite kids to get are kids on the cusp of being elite shooters. Everyone’s shot is different, everyone. I NEVER understood how some guys taught kids to all shoot the same or hold the ball the same. Eveeyone’s hands are different sizes, they have different levels of strength affecting their ability to shoot the ball, etc. Shooting is 50% mental and 50% physical. There are kids that can shoot 70% in a workout and then a game starts and they airball their first shot and won’t shoot again. THAT is why we train. I’m going to put our kids in every adverse/disadvantagous environment I possibly can, so workouts are easier than games. Stationary shooting doesn’t build good shooters. Set shooters yes, but those are too easy to gameplay for. A kid that can respace and sprint to an opposite corner or wing and hit a 3 or show and counter off of that yes, that is a true shooter. So you say you want to be a shooter.. right this way cps-training.com
